The perfect antidote to over-saving. Convinced me to book the Iceland trip instead of bumping the savings rate another 1%. Worth it.
The Psychology of Money
Morgan Housel
Short chapters, big ideas. "Enough" is the most underrated word in finance. Read it on a single flight and thought about it for a month.
Four Thousand Weeks
Oliver Burkeman
Time management for people who realize they're going to die. Sounds grim, reads liberating. Pairs dangerously well with FIRE math.

A game about escaping the office to live your best life. Basically a FIRE simulator with chickens. The kids run the farm; I run the spreadsheet. Fitting.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

120 hours of pure "one more shrine." The best dollars-per-hour-of-joy ratio in my entire entertainment budget.
Ticket to Ride
Family board game night
Teaches the kids route planning, resource management, and the fine art of ruthlessly blocking your father. They learned that last one too well.

How I rate 🔥
Five flames = changed how I think or became a family tradition. Four = genuinely great. Anything lower doesn't make the site — life's too short and the backlog too long. Book links are library-first; games get bought on sale. FIRE habits die hard.
